I just know y’all have heard about Kate Ziegler absolutely destroying the oldest World Record on the books, right? If not, allow me to educate you.
The Scene: 2007 TYR Swim Meet of Champions, hosted annually by Mission Viejo Nadadores The Previous Wins: 200, 400, 800 Free The Victim: The 1500 Freestyle World Record, previously held by Janet Evans The Real Deal: 15:42.54
All I have to say is WOW!
Go Kate! Work it out, girl!
MORE: Our girl, lala, attended this meet and told me all about it when she got in last night! She was so excited as any of us would be had we been able to witness such an exhilirating race! She said that it was her favorite race ever! (And keep in mind that she was in Melbourne during the “Phelps Show”). She also shared that the crowd was on its feet from the 200m mark of the race until the end; cheering Kate on every stroke of the way! Here is a video of the last 3 minutes of Kate’s race. Thanks, lala, for the details of this historical race! We can’t wait to see you in 10 days!
Cullen Jones was bumped from last week’s episode of Ballers, but BET made good on airing it last night. Since Cullen is our current “Special Guest” here on The Swim Aids website, it’s pretty much our duty to pimp him out whenever possible. So below is the video of his feature on BET’s Ballers. Enjoy!
As the months go by, our admiration for this certain swimmer named T-Dub! grows. After this evening’s “show” on the pool deck, he has vaulted himself into the top spot on the Swim Aids Favorites list. Not many have made it to the summit, so we congratulate our dear T-Dub on finding that special place in our hearts tonight. Oh, and also for making our cheeks hurt. (Not like that, you sickos. He makes us laugh…a LOT!)
Now we also must note that while Davis has made a large leap tonight, others are falling out of Swim Aid favor. We’re not naming names, but if a certain someone would like to continue to receive the benefit of our hard work on SwimStars.org, they need to step it up and stop being a massive snob.
So, anyway, we had a hard time functioning enough to get together any video, but we managed to get some hilarious words from Davis before he left the building. We are sharing them with you below:
So, in light of our dear Kletus leaving the midwest, I thought I’d resurrect this classic Swim Aid video. I honestly don’t think we can ever get enough of this video. No, seriously.
Now remember, you must turn up/on your speakers when viewing this. When I showed PVK this video a few months back, he didn’t “get it” because the big goof didn’t have his sound on. Please don’t make the same mistake he did. Enjoy this tribute properly and responsibly!
Showing a little love to the UM Swimming & Diving program because they killed it at Big Tens last weekend. So, they didn’t win. Almost only counts in horse shoes. Mark my words that they will dominate next year when they host the meet.
Were it not for that stupid winter storm, I would have been able to see some of this meet. But mother nature was not cooperative and then duty called me out to Missouri instead. All my absence really meant is that a certain Vanderkaay (not named Peter) isn’t going to receive individual pictures of himself. Somewere in Ann Arbor, he is crying because he was ready for a new facebook profile picture. I keep it real.
But anyway, as we’ve been preaching for a while because Club Wolverine Owns Us, y’all really need to get out and support those boys. Not because they need it per se, but because they deserve it!
