Just so y’all know, I wouldn’t bother going to any sites on the Swim Stars network in the next 48 hours or so.
The stream of INSANE Olympic-driven traffic has already started and it’s completely crashing my server. Once I reboot it, it’ll function for a few minutes, then the downpouring of hits crashes it again. I’m in the process of trying to move things around and secure a new dedicated server, but those things are upwards of $400 per month. And seeing as how I don’t make money off those sites, you can imagine the situation I’m currently in with regards to website hosting.
So I’m having to be a little creative. I think everything should be settled in the next 2-3 days.
This site, MGoSwim and Swim Stars Liveshould be ok, but I’m not holding my breath. People are googling up a storm!
So just thought I’d share in case you try to visit say RyanLochte.net and can’t. I’m doing what I can, but I’m not made of money!
We’ve made it no secret that Megan Romano is our girl. We love her to death, not just because she is so ghetto, but also because she just kicks major ass!
We met Megan’s mama, Rhonda, many moons ago at the 2005 CP Summer Nationals. That’s when we decided that I’d create and maintain her official website. I hadn’t heard from Rhonda in a few months, but I got quite the spirited phone call today from her.
The reason being that Megan was currently appearing on the front page of the Yahoo! website. Big time, baby!
We’ve been rooting for Meg for years and don’t see that changing any time soon! Get to know Meg’s story a little better by reading the spotlight here.
If you’re one of the people asking that, I’ll just take one second to calm your nerves.
First of all, the site is not going anywhere. Under a year from the Olympics and I’m going to shut down a site I’ve been pouring myself into for 3 years? Yea, not gonna happen.
Swim Stars has sustained a hacking attempt and some malicious phishing attempts ensued. My hosting co. and I thought it would be easiest to disable the site while we track down those files and remove them. When we’re done, Swim Stars will be back.
Yea, we got it covered. It’s a beautiful thing to be on top of your shit when covering a swim meet. We were blogging live from the deck, so there are tons of updates already online. We have a small sampling of pictures, and all of the finals video. Pretty impressive, huh? We thought so too. For all of that coverage, check out Swim Stars Live. If you want to see our video, we put it all on YouTube. Check out the playlist below!
Just a quick note to let all the faithful Swim Aids visitors know that the newest SwimStars.org network site has opened. So please visit MattGrevers.com today!
