This was sent to me by the show’s publicity team, so I feel it only right to share. US Swimming legend Janet Evans is participating. Why should you care? Well, it’s not every day we see one of our beloved gold medalists appearing weekly on network TV, now is it?
Celebrity Circus” is an exciting new series that immerses today’s top stars in the breathtaking world of the circus and cirque. Antonio Sabato Jr., Blu Cantrell, Christopher Knight, Janet Evans, Jason “Wee Man” Acuna, Rachel Hunter and Stacey Dash will attempt death-defying stunts in a head-to-head competition in front of a live studio audience. Each week viewers at home will cast their votes for the best acts and determine which of the celebrities is going home. Hosted by former *NSYNC member and Emmy Red Carpet host Joey Fatone, “Celebrity Circus” brings the incredible world of the Big Top into America’s living rooms, beginning with a special 90 minute premiere on Wednesday, June 11 at 9:30 P.M. ET.
The Swim Aids are excited. We all are big fans of the TLC reality show “What Not To Wear”. We’ve referenced it on here before. Actually, co-host Stacy London wore the same dress Kaitlin did at Golden Goggles on one of their shows.
The fashion victim, referred to as contributers, is usually stuck in a rut or just doesn’t know how to dress themselves well. They are typically nominated by friends and family. Then they are secretly filmed for a couple of weeks. This evidence collection will be thrown back in the contributer’s face during the show. Oh, the embarassment!
Stacy London and Clinton Kelly offer the contributer $5000 to purchase a brand new wardrobe as long as their rules for fashion are followed. The victim’s old wardrobe is critiqued and thrown away (not really, they donate it to charity). The cherry on top is that the contributer also gets a session with a hair stylist and makeup artist to help them put their new look together.
So now that I’ve explained the premise of the show, get ready, because Tara will be featured in an upcoming episode. Read her account of the experience on her blog.
I already watch “What Not To Wear” every Friday. I can’t wait to see Tara’s episode!
ESPN’s weekly primetime newsmagazine, E:60, is already promoting its next show, which will air on Tuesday at 7:00 PM (ET).
Dara Torres and her quest to make her 5th Olympic team is the subject of one of their stories.
I’ve watched this show a few times and, in my opinion, it’s one of the more enjoyable programs that ESPN airs. It’s not full of ex-players and coaches giving opinions and color commentary (read: arguing and talking over each other), but rather focuses on the real sports storytelling and the behind-the-scenes stories that you won’t see on SportsCenter.
Speaking of SportsCenter…when the heck is Phelps‘ SC commercial going to start airing? He filmed it ages ago!
Anyway, be sure to tune in to to E:60, but if you can’t, video will probably be available here.
ETA: It airs at 7, not 7:30. My bad. Now there is a short preview available:
Maritza has been swimming and training through a great deal of pain. That stretch goes back to the Athens games, but really intensified in the past year and a half. I can’t imagine going through the rigorous training that swimming requires for that long with intense pain.
As a result, Maritza has stepped away from competitive swimming for good. Don’t fret, though! She still plans to be involved with the sport she loves in a number of different ways.
She continues to make appearances for her sponsor NIKE, and speaks to young children about her swimming career. Just a few weeks back she attended the Women’s Sports Foundation’s Billie Awards in Los Angeles.
