Say Again?

Posted June 5, 2007 at 6:20 pm by Carrie in Press Screw-Ups

All right, I understand how journalists can mistake such names as “Kaitlin” or “Erik,” but not a swimmer that is practically known world wide.

Pelps to withdraw from Europe competition

American swimmer Michael Phelps withdrew from the Mare Nostrum European competition due to back injury.

Ever heard of peer editing?  Seriously, a recent high school grad should not be able to read your article and find five things to correct.  Just keeping it real.

Not to mention the fact that injury wasn’t the reason he withdrew anyway. Silly journalists!

Suz what do you mean ” Not to mention the back injury was not the reason he withdrew anyway? Why did he withdraw? I hope he will swim at nationals. Is this the same injury that he had back in 04? Thanks. Anna Shethar

He’s not injured. Period. He’s just going to stay in the States and train. He’s fine, lol

Thank God suz you had me really worried. Why would the press say that he had a back injury if he did not have one? I know they love roumers sometimes, but that seems rediculous. Talk to you later.

I think finding articles with typos (or just plain bad writing!) is the only thing I bring to the Swim Aid table. Other than that…I’m just here for the dumb theories or questions.
