I didn’t think this day would come, but I really, really, really miss the Speedo highlighter suits. You know the ones. The suits that featured a myriad of color and personality. The ones that made female swimmers actually look like females. Those ones. They are better known as the Fastskin II or FSII.
After having to look at a sea of LZR, Tracer Rise, and Blueseventy suits at Trials — all black in color — I’m feenin’ for some color!
Not only that, but I am still in denial that our team will be sporting the extreme fugness that is the Team USA LZR. Oh, how I long for that old Fastskin!
However, if we dominate in Beijing the way I think we can, the fug will be much easier to stomach. I won’t stop hating on the suit, but I may tone down my complaints a little. Just a little, though.
The good ol’ days…
Also, I’m still waiting for Speedo to burn the entire Flipturns line. It literally looks like someone threw up on a canvas and that pattern was then pressed on a suit. Ew.
I’m not sure how long this will be up since I have no clue if this falls under the ‘restricted content’ umbrella from Trials. The way to know if this is ‘bad’ will be if this post disappears in the near future. Watch the vid while you can!
Here is the parade of Team USA qualifiers for Beijing as they paraded past the media section. There were a few absentees, but I’d say it was the majority of the squad!
I didn’t know where to put this, but I just knew I had to post it somewhere! It’s just too good to pass up.
Below is a video of Katie showin’ off a couple of the dance moves she’s learned in her hip hop classes. She’s promised me that we’re going to go out and tear it up, after the Olympics, so it was nice for me be able to get a preview of what I can expect. For the rest of you, enjoy the LOLZ!
Please note the look on her face when asked to share some dance moves. That’s pretty much the same face I got when I asked her to put on my ‘Black Girl” t-shirt. And just like then, she caved to the request.
It’s still pretty hard for us to believe how our snarky little swim blog has blown up since we created it, but it has.
We constantly have to remind ourselves that there are more people than just us visiting and reading our words.
So, today is the 2nd Birthday of the Swim Aids website. That’s right! We’ve been around for 2 years now! We can hardly believe it! The sport of swimming has a great and loyal fanbase as part of its community and we continue to be amazed by the wonderful people we’ve come into contact with. We hope that never ends! Great people; all of you! So if you see a Swim Aid at a meet, don’t be afraid to come say hello. We love meeting new people!
Thanks to everyone for their support and continuing to visit and contribute. We really do appreciate it and we see you. Here’s to another great year of keepin’ it real!
P.S. There was a special picture we took in our Omaha hotel lobby before I left in the wee hours of the night. It’s very relevant to this post. But I don’t have it. Kiwi does. So if you want to see it, she has to add it. I’m not sure I’d hold my breath if I were y’all

Made of toothpicks and candy stolen from the hotel restaurant. We are creative like that!
Juliet from AMP Agency sent the following video to me. We’re all pretty familiar with the trend of swimmers getting inked with the Olympic Rings upon their return from the Summer Games. Here’s a little fluff piece about that. You know you love fluff. And if you don’t, you had better get used to it. For the next 6 weeks, Olympic fluff will be constantly shoved down your throat! Lap it up, my friends. Lap it up.
Man, I’m all over the posts today. I think I’m really just psyched to have my fast and powerful computer back at my disposal.
In any case, y’all should tune in to The Tonight Show w/ Jay Leno tonight because Dara will be the second guest on the show. It isn’t every day that swimmers get a spot on the major talk shows, so I thought I’d share the news!
The Tonight Show airs weeknights at 11:35 PM (ET) on NBC. More info can be found on the show website.
