Nostalgic? You Bet!
But not about what you’d think I would!
I didn’t think this day would come, but I really, really, really miss the Speedo highlighter suits. You know the ones. The suits that featured a myriad of color and personality. The ones that made female swimmers actually look like females. Those ones. They are better known as the Fastskin II or FSII.
After having to look at a sea of LZR, Tracer Rise, and Blueseventy suits at Trials — all black in color — I’m feenin’ for some color!
Not only that, but I am still in denial that our team will be sporting the extreme fugness that is the Team USA LZR. Oh, how I long for that old Fastskin!
However, if we dominate in Beijing the way I think we can, the fug will be much easier to stomach. I won’t stop hating on the suit, but I may tone down my complaints a little. Just a little, though.

Also, I’m still waiting for Speedo to burn the entire Flipturns line. It literally looks like someone threw up on a canvas and that pattern was then pressed on a suit. Ew.

i will accompany you on your trip down memory lane and say that I as well miss the fastskin II =(. I loved Nationals with all the swimmers reppin their favorite colors and team colors. They need to incorporate some color into the LZR. The Team USA LZR is nasty and I still can’t believe someone during the process of making it didnt stop it.
The flipturns line is sooo unfortunate. It is just soo unpleasant to look at in commericals, ad campaigns, and on the pool deck. They need to hire a new design team.
I really miss this line too! Kate’s was my FAVORITE out of all of them!
And yeah…don’t get me going on the flipturns line!
I definitely miss all the awesome combinations of the fastskin II’s, especially given the monotone ugliness of the LZR.
However, I kind of love the flipturns line. Its…hmm…how can i put this….amazingly horrible? Like, the patterns are so ridiculous I find them entertaining. I definitely wouldn’t mind owning a few myself.
By owning a few, I hope you meant to add “but only if someone gave them to me because I certainly wouldn’t buy them myself”. Am I right?
I like free stuff.
i wouldnt rock the flipturns line if someone gave it to me and gave me $20 bucks. hahha
