Amanda Beard’s Beer Sponsor Revealed
Back in September, we made a post about Amanda securing a new sponsor. This particular sponsor was a beer company, though, and was not identified in the interview we linked.
Carrie — who actually checked out her SI Swimsuit Issue, unlike me — stumbled across the answer to our question. Amanda has teamed with Budweiser, who is a “proud sponsor of the 2008 U.S. Olympic Team”. In the Swimsuit issue, Amanda scored her very own 3-page foldout ad. She is photoshopped to all get-out, but looks good, as always. Check it out below:
There is another Budweiser ad, featuring Heather Mitts, Brianna Glenn, and Lovie Jung, on the back cover of the swimsuit issue.
In addition to Amanda’s 1st Budweiser appearance, there is another ad (in poster form), with Amanda on Harley Davidson bike, that is making the rounds on eBay.

Haha, my roommate thought it was a playboy when she got it out of my mailbox. I was like, um…can you read? The bike ad looks more like her. I mean, it’s not bad, but I had to do a double take to make sure it was her. But yay! I love the new Olympic ads making their rounds. I’m waiting for Lochte’s milk ad!

Since you guys are talking about the Olympics (sort of), I’ll come out of lurking temporarily…
I’m trying to convince a friend to go with me to Trials, but I don’t know if it will work. Do any of you plan on going? Which level tickets are you buying and which hotels are you looking at? I asked the same thing over at BHO and nobody seems to want to respond. I’m guess I’m an outsider.
Even though everything is still up in the air at this point, I went ahead and booked a room before all the hotels filled up. Check me out, all cool at the Travelodge. Yeah, that’s right. The Travelodge. I can’t rationalize $239 to stay at the Embassy Suites and the $95 downtown Best Western was already booked.
I went to Indy for Nationals, ended up at a far away hotel, and sat by myself most of the time. I’d like to not do that again this time around.
The Swim Aids will most definitely be at Trials. We almost booked at the Travelodge too! No lie! But then I got sent the information packet for the media hotel, and we booked a room there instead.
Kiwi and I are planning on having media credentials, like we have at every USA Swimming competition for the past 2 years. Carrie bought her tix already and Erika is currently in limbo. She could end up with a media pass too (if I can get another one), or even just stay camped out at the hotel. Those tix are super expensive, but the mini-packages that they released late last year could help her situation.
So I’ll let those two chime in and fill you in on their deal. I hear you on the sitting alone thing. Some people prefer to be alone *coughlalacough*, but we can’t stand it. Swim meets are more fun with a posse!

If I get a deck pass, that’d be sweet, but I’m not holding my breath, hahaa! I’d look like a total DUMBASS on deck, I already feel like one at other meets (totally typed “meats” WTF?) but trials?! UUhhh AWKWARD!
I’m honestly liking the idea of chillin in the hotel room… I think it will be fun! Plus I already have to leave trials a day or two early cause I leave for egypt on the 8th and 1 full day is not enough to pack and do laundry for a ten day trip… no no no.
Messler, you should have holla’d (not a word, huh? I’m making it one!) at us at nats! We were being crazy in the stands, hahahahaa…

Yes, awkward. Like she was going for the “sexy look”, but something went wrong along the way, lol.
She’s from a hic town…she understood the beer, but not so much Amanda. Haha. Yeah, I bought Silver level tickets (it was like $300, but my parents are paying half of it. Pretty sure it’s because they feel guilty for making me move out here to SD). I will be driving down, so we will have a car so that does cut the expenses! Yay! I love meeting new people! P.S. Erika - you’re leaving early to go to Egypt? I didn’t know that! How cool! Can’t wait for those pictures!! And I think this is definetly the longest comment I have ever given.
I’d be driving as well. I think it’s only about seven hours.
I was a drug escort in Indy so I didn’t sit in the stands much during finals. I was busy trying to look like I knew what I was doing while following around my victim. (I had some good swimmers, too.) Oh, and I was looking at Phelps get out of the pool with a lil somethin’ extra going on in his Speedo.
The Indy hotel I was at was so far out in the boonies. I’m pretty sure a hooker worked in a room down the hall because every time I left my room, a different guy was coming or going. Classy. Don’t even start me on the clientele at the local Walmart.
Anyway, I reserved the room in Omaha for the whole week or whatever it is, but I might just shorten it down to one of the session plans. Basically, whichever session will show me the most of the Texas boys. Michigan owns you; Texas owns me.
