At the end of prelims, the oh-so-wonderful Peter Bick escorted us waaaaay up to the catwalk in the natatorium. It’s pretty much like the rafters. It was so hot and humid up there, but really cool! Check out our latest Swim Aid adventures.
P.S. If you’re here visiting to check and see if we’re posting copyrighted material (e.g. video), you’re wasting your time. We know what we are and aren’t allowed to use, so no need to police our site and be fun ruiners. We’re credentialed media for a reason. kthanx.
We ran across the video of Kaitlin Sandeno, Amanda Beard, Aaron Peirsol and the one and only Ian Thorpe on youtube. We thought we’d make a nice little post for you guys, hope you like it!
Writing from the car, on our way to Indy. No, I’m not driving; I left that to kiwi. What? I supplied the car! What more do you want from me?!
Anyway, we’re in Indiana now. We stopped at the Dairy Queen to grab a little fuel and now we’re back on the road. We’re in the home stretch now. There is entirely too much construction in Dayton, though. Thought I’d share. We also saw the most hilarious billboard! It’s posted to the right. It always makes me LOL when I road trip.
We were supposed to pick up a fellow Swim Aid at the airport a little bit ago. Needless to say, we are late. Don’t hate. It’s how we roll.
Anyway, on the agenda today/tonight is picking up our press credentials at the pool, settling into our phatty hotel, catching a movie at Circle Centre Mall, and our traditional hot tub party. Aint life grand?
Ok, update on the fug Jenny Packham dress Amanda rocked at the ESPY Awards. Our feelings are still very strong that it never should have been designed and sold in the first place. But since it was, it is our duty to continue talking about it so others don’t fall into the trap of buying an ugly dress and wearing it out in public; where there are tons of photographers.
Celebrity train wreck Tara Reid wore the same dress to a premiere and US Weekly’s website has a poll up where they ask you “Who Wore It Best?”. The picture they used for Amanda was quite possibly the worst one out of the bunch. She looks like a ghost, no? In any case, readers are overwhelmingly voting for Tara Reid. Now, there was a day where Tara was super hot. But after her botched plastic surgery saga and years over-partying, she just doesn’t strike us as “hot” anymore. Amanda, on the other hand, is very hot!
So what we want all of y’all to do is going to their site and vote for Amanda. It is your civic duty as a swim fan. Go now!
And not just because it is a short 10 minute drive from me.
The Bill & Mae McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion, home of the Ohio State Buckeye swim program, has been given a 4 page spread in the July/August issue of Aquatics International magazine. There is an article and pictures that accompany the feature which boldly points out how the University’s facility “sets a university apart from the competition”. My vote is for the instant replay on the scoreboard. It’s dope. Seriously. Check it out here.
I checked out the architects of the facility and turns out my family has direct ties to one of them. Moody Nolan Inc. was founded about 25 years ago with the help of a generous donation from my uncle who was playing in the NBA at the time. Curtis Moody, the owner, was a college friend of his! And this has been another tidbit of useless information, courtesy of Suz. You know you love it.
Anyway, the Swim Aids are prepping for a big reunion in Indy for Nationals and a few of us are getting the party started a few days early at my crib. We might just take a trip on over to McCorkle. You never know!
