Affordable ticket prices for Worlds? Pshh

The ticket prices for the upcoming FINA World Championships has been released by the event organizers and is described as “affordable”. The prices (listed here) are given in Australian dollars, but after converting them to USD, end up being a tad more expensive than the previous World Championships, held in Montreal last summer. We covered that event for SwimStars.org and would have loved to do the same for Worlds in Melbourne, but $800 tickets, $1300+ airfare, lord only knows how much for hotel, plus spending money would require we sell our souls to the devil!

So we will be sitting the World Championships out. It could end up that the Swim Aids will be gathered together, anxiously watching the Omega Timing live results page refresh with all the times and rankings! You never know with us!

Why can’t everyone be like Erik Vendt?

swimaids.jpg

Erik Vendt swam in the Tiburon Open Water Mile Swim today. I don’t know if that is the offical title but I’m going to call it that. He did an amazing job swimming across from Angel Island to Tiburon Docks (?) to place 3rd. The winner was a german fellow. It was brawl at the end. Brutally stroke slapping, pushing, and possible biting at the end of the race!!! If anyone lives in the Bay Area, it is cool to watch soooo many people swim across and kinda exciting to see what is going happen at the finish line and it is annual!

I want to give Erik an extra shoutout of love for being sooo friendly and fantastically sweet.
