Speedo Finally Does Right By Peter Vanderkaay

Over the years, we’ve been vocal about our displeasure that whenever Speedo does their photo shoots, they never invite Peter Vanderkaay. Back in 2008, I asked him why there wasn’t a Vanderkaay Speedo Olympic Jersey and he said: “I don’t know. You tell me!”
Pete’s much too humble to say anything negative about anyone, but we aren’t! How they gonna play a brother like that?!
I mean, it doesn’t really make any sense to us. Pete’s been one of the more steady and consistent performers for Team USA over the past 2 quadrenniums and he has also been an officially sponsored Speedo athlete, whether they wanted to publicly acknowledge him or not. So, why haven’t they wanted him in their promotional efforts? One of life’s greater mysteries, to be sure.
Or at least it was!
Pete shared (via his blog) that he was flown out to do a Speedo photoshoot. FINALLY!
I’m glad PVK has finally been able to experience this, as this Olympics is his last go around as a swimming professional. He’s earned it and The Swim Aids can’t wait to see how the shoot turned out! I bet the photographer was introduced to Pete’s signature expression when a camera’s around. We call it the “Deer in Headlights”. Love ya, PVK!
